Fan does not bring down high head pressure

Recharged a Audi A6 2009 just now. Head pressure was high at 330 PSI at 80 ambient temp. The fan kicked in and ramped all the way up to full speed and sounded like a jet taking off but it did not manage to bring down the head pressure. Usually you will se the pressure drop as soon as the fan ramps u...

Re: Volvo V50 2011 very high vibrating highside pressure

Yes its the SD7V16. So what you say is that it should do the opposite when restricted? Pump less. So why does it behave like this you think? Is checking the orifice for clogging worthwhile? My plan was to throw away the front end to get some access and feel around for where things change temps. Any ...

Volvo V50 2011 very high vibrating highside pressure

This Volvo was low on refrigerant so I pulled a good vacuum and started recharging. At 370 grams of 535 grams total charge I saw the highside at 24 bar (360 psi) with ambient temp at 8C (or 45F). Way too high. Needle was vibrating abnormally at that reading. Suction pressure was normal but was creep...

Re: Discharge pipe burst - add how much oil?

Yes, OP should expect to find very little oil inside it too. Running the A/C with way low refrigerant (the typical "something's hissing under the dash when AC/defroster is on" condition) is what sends most of the oil to the evaporator. Having a TXV means that the compressor is able to run...

Re: Discharge pipe burst - add how much oil?

I know that is the correct way to do it but try to convince someone that you need to spend several hours more when the problem was fixed in 15 minutes. That is simply not going to happen. I will have to guesstimate the loss of oil.

Discharge pipe burst - add how much oil?

Car is a Ford Focus 2009 with factory charge 600 grams and 200 ml PAG oil. After replacing the discharge pipe that had a big crack in it 5 inch from outlet I wonder hos much oil I need to add. I could see oil sprayed out but impossible to tell exactly hos much. I just added about 40 ml but I think I...

Can PAG and mineral coexist in old R12 system?

I'm going to replace a condenser and drier on a Mazda MX6 1993 with R12 system. There is a sticker in german that system contains ozone harmful gas but on the other hand there is a R134 connector on the high side so I really don't know whats in the system and whats done with it. I have tired the sys...

Berlingo Leaks on vacuum, not pressure!?

This is a 2010 Citroën Berlingo with 5SEL12c compressor. It had zero pressure so I added 120 psi of nitrogen to find the leak. Not 1 psi drop for 20 mins so I began pull a vacuum. Could not get a vacuum and when isolating the vacuum pump I could see the needle return to zero. Back on with nitrogen a...

Re: Strange compressor behavior Volvo V50

Factory charge 520 grams. I have spoken to a guy that renovates these compressors and he explained the reason for this behavior. It's a malfunction in the internal valves. Like both suction and discharge is open at the same time and compressor just pumps internally. Replacement is only option but no...

Re: Strange compressor behavior Volvo V50

I have removed the belly plastic to observe the clutch. I can make it spin or stop with AC button. What about bypass valves? Would I be able to see a slight change in pressures if this is faulty?
