Re: 70 GMC, 134 retrofit problem
Thanks for the input bohica2x0. I decided to take it out for a drive a see what it would do. Got vent temps down to around 46F driving at around 65 mph. This is not terrible considering with the 700r4 I am only turning around 1600 rpm at 65. I need to change my rear end gearing but that will have to...

Re: 70 GMC, 134 retrofit problem
So...I swapped out the POA eliminator for the original POA set at 26.5. Charged the system and sorry to say results were no better....actually worse. 95 deg ambient temp: pressures are 285 high, 32 low , vent temp 60 deg at 2000 rpm. I performed the on car POA test to see what the low side would be ...

Re: 70 GMC, 134 retrofit problem
Tested system one More time. Lowest vent temp 50-52 at 2000 rpm. Pressures not bad high 255, low fluctuates between 20 and 42, thus kicking compressor and off. 85 deg ambient temp. I really am beginning to believe that this POA replacement is the POS many people have claimed that it is. I dug out th...

Re: 70 GMC, 134 retrofit problem
Finally got time to get back to this project 80 deg ambient temp. Sensor bulb has been wrapped. Results at 2000 RPM clutch off: high side drops to 120, low side steadily rises to 42 and them clutch kicks on. clutch on: high side 225 max, low side steadily drops to 20 and then clutch kicks off. vent ...

Re: 70 GMC, 134 retrofit problem
Update: 80 deg F ambient temp Hooked gauges up, increased RPM to 2000. clutch off = 150 H and 42 L (highest readings) Clutch on = 225 H L 36 highest reading, then low drops to 20 within about 15 seconds and high rises to 275. Once it hits 20 on the low side the clutch kicks back on and the cycle rep...

Re: 70 GMC, 134 retrofit problem
The fan shroud is new as well as the clutch, I will check the gauge readings again at 1500-2000 rpm. If both the low and the high increase I will assume the system is overcharged. If something different such as high side is elevated and low side too low, I will assume I have another problem. Only th...

70 GMC, 134 retrofit problem
Long story. but here we go. AC system on my 70 GMC has not been used in 10yrs (estimated). System was closed during this time, but no charge. Replaced A6 with sanden compressor, new hoses for 134, new parallel flow condensor (25x14), new expansion valve, new receiver dryer, and POA eliminator kit. B...
