Re: 1998 Frontier (288K miles)

I don't know the size of the o-ring off-hand. I always just matched them up in my Master kit. Autozine and Napa are suppliers of Santech, which is one of the big companies where I still do catalog stuff. The issue is that you can't go by my year, make, or model. Kind of have to match it up. The ...

Re: 1998 Frontier (288K miles)

Captured o-rings are just a little thicker. Think of it like an old A6 compressor. There are #12 o-rings for the hose connections. And #12 for the back of the compressor, which are thicker, "captured".

Re: 1998 Frontier (288K miles)

If you can fit it over the pipe and still connect, try a same-size captured o-ring.

Re: 1959 Thunderbird - TXV Valve Inlet Screen Help

When this "screen" clogs, your oil flow is reduced. What effect do you think that it will have on the compressor?

Nothing beats having a properly cleaned system to start with.

Re: Fitting modern hvac unit to old car

You will need to make a mounting bracket for the compressor in any case. Just get a unit from Old Air Products, Nostalgic AC Parts, or Vintage Air and start your fabrication from there. I've been involved with many custom systems back in the day. Nothing magical about it. Just fabrication with the ...

Re: I have questions about DIY charging

From what I read, so much was done incorrectly here.

A magical can of refrigerant with a dial gauge will provide real pressure readings. Vehicles need a specific weight of refrigerant per their design. Also, I noted the refrigerant was removed and more added. Maybe I missed reading the post. But ...

Re: A question about adding R12 1981 Corvette

Easy grasshopper, R12 was never illegal to use. They stopped production of it to move on to another refrigerant. Certain year vehicles were mandated to use R134a, but R12 was still legal for other year vehicles.

No one has broken any rules to obtain a removal. 81 Veete would be an original R12 ...
