Well got the system all flush and blown out. Dumped the compressor and let it drain for a while turning the clutch many many times. Add 8oz of pag150, put everything back together Pulled a vacuum on it for about 45 minutes and then shut it off let it sit for 30 minutes. Not leaks whew. Now for the ...

I'd start pulling a vacuum again, see if you can pull what ever may have got in. At this point it can't hurt.

Jag I agree, when it's super hot and or humid your compressor is not going to cycle much if at all when at idle. I even went as for as to put a go pro under my hood and filmed the compressor while I drove.

Do you have the original one? If so and giving the vintage nature of your Vette, I'd look for someone (Shop) to rebuild the old one. If the compressor has eaten it's self up I understand you wanting to replace it. Do you have a picture of your compressor? Your right there are 2 different styles.
