Most probably it has happened because you didn't change the condenser as a whole and just replaced the dryer and then replaced the compressor. Since when a compressor locks up it pumps out the metal pieces into the condenser which in your case because of the old condenser might be still stuck in the...

I think the local guy from whom you got it fixed with R134a, was as you said a young mind so he just gave the old system a new gas to work with that apparently has not worked well enough. Now the idea of providing the old system with the old gas indeed to match the things up is right in my opinion. ...
